A little bit about Alford & Hoff
In 2007, Barry Alford and Jefferson Hoffman wanted to create a mens lifestyle brand that is both distinctive and approachable while recognizing the importance of excellence to today’s man. This turned into today’s Alford & Hoff.
Alford & Hoff is known primarily for their fragrances:
- Signature Fragrance – Notes of citrus, herbs, vanilla and tonka beans, molten amber and suede
- Alford & Hoff No. 2 – Notes of bergamot, citrus, black basil, nutmeg, pink peppercorn, Patchouli, cedar, oak, marine moss
- Alford & Hoff No. 3 – Notes of aldehyde and absinthe accord, rhubarb, angelica seed/root, nutmeg essence, fig, sage, orris, cedarwood, Belambre, black leather
Each scent is available in a 3.4 oz. size as well as a travel size option.
In addition to the already popular fragrance line, the emerging mens lifestyle brand launched a luxury leather goods line exclusively at Neiman Marcus in December of 2015.
TNG’s experience with Alford & Hoff
I was lucky enough to be able to work with Alford & Hoff and try out their Signature Fragrance.
Normally, I would be hesitant to order a fragrance, something requiring the sense of smell, online, but given the in-depth descriptions of the topnote (first impression upon application), midnote (two minutes to an hour after application), and drydown (rich, deep scents lasting for the duration thereafter), I was happy to jump the gun.
I received the fragrance with an Alford & Hoff dopp kit and travel kit filled with all the quick grooming tools you need on the road. They easily fit into a carry-on suitcase and can fit your toothbrush, a hairbrush, any long toiletries you might need to bring with you while you’re away.
After finally getting to spray and understand the Signature Fragrance, to my nose, it was rich and complex, and reminded me of something by Tom Ford I had previously sampled.
Once it had a chance to mix with the natural oils of my own skin, I found scents of fragrant woods crossbred with some really good whiskey — you know when you smell a glass of some REALLY good whiskey? Imagine that, but it also went to an Ivy League school and graduated a Heisman Trophy winner.
