Wedding season is in full force, and when it’s hot, wearing a suit can be an absolute nightmare. To combat the summer suit sweatiness, we’re turning to the new wave of lightweight, unstructured suits. They’re usually made from cotton, or a breathable, non-wool material so you don’t become a walking greenhouse.
We paired this great, unstructured tan suit from J Crew with some sharp brown loafers from To Boot New York. Underneath, we chose a solid blue dress shirt from GANT, which is such a perfect fit by the way, and a contrasting blue floral tie from Ties.com that’ll be sure to make a splash in any crowd. REMEMBER: It’s not okay to look better than the bride on her wedding day… unless you look better than everybody else there as well.
A closer examination of our summer wedding look brings the details to life. This particular suit calls for complementary colors in a similar color story — light and fun. We got a great shade of blue in this dress shirt with a the pinks and whites in the floral tie and a shiny arrow tie bar. To refine the look, we pulled out those support colors in the tie and supported them with a pink gingham pocket square and this fun wood watch, a unique accessory and a great conversation piece when making small talk with family and friends. Lastly, have to make sure your beard and hair are on point — nobody wants to look like the dude from Ancient Aliens.
Perhaps the most important detail about the summer wedding look is the grooming! It’s dang hot out, and the last thing you want is a beard or hair malfunction. I’ve been using Cremo’s as well as their pomade to make sure when I get ready, my look stays!
